Enrichment Programs Minimester: To provide as many opportunities as possible for a well-rounded education, St. Margaret's developed a two-week Minimester program. Every February and March, faculty team teach intensive, seminar-style courses that encourage creative inquiry, experiential learning, and an exploration of topical, cross-curricular themes. Students also may take advantage of a variety of Minimester Travel Programs. Past trips include China, Greece, Peru, sailing the Bahamas, exploring Costa Rica and taking part in the Disney Youth Education Series. Read more about Minimester. River Program: St. Margaret's is the only girls' independent boarding/day school in the country to offer a formal river program. Our program helps girls build confidence through outdoor adventures, encourages them as they explore environmental science careers, teaches them water sports they can enjoy for a lifetime, and shows them the value of volunteer service. Learning from the river, students discover the rich interrelationships between science, history, and culture. The River Program is an integral part of the St. Margaret's experience, from the curriculum and student activities to campus life. Learn more about the River Program. QMSGSA School Exchanges: The association works to promote the Queen Margaret of Scotland heritage, foster a shared identity and sense of belonging among member schools, offer an international stage and perspective, and provide opportunities for interaction, relationships and participation. Many St. Margaret's students have taken advantage of this network to visit other countries, study and learn about other cultures. All students benefit from living and learning with girls from other countries who come to Tappahannock. Learn more about the QMSGSA experience. |
