Why SMS?
There are lots of reasons why you should consider attending St. Margaret's. Here are the Top 10:
 Location, Location, Location - Where else would most of your classrooms, and maybe even your dorm room, overlook a beautiful, mile-wide river? The Rappahannock is a living laboratory for many of your courses, where our crew team practices, and a favorite spot for swimming and sunning.
  Boarding is Big - If you're looking for a school that you can call home, this is it. Boarding students make up 2/3 of the SMS student body. That means fun and friends all the time, not just during the week. Dorm parents and student prefects live on each floor and are there when you need advice (or a cookie!).
 God Matters - St. Margaret's is sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. Whatever your religion -- and we have lots of different ones here -- you'll find a source of strength, comfort and direction as you develop your own spirituality.
 It's All About You - In just a short time, everyone on campus will know you by name. It's easy when there are 150 girls! You'll get the attention you deserve in classes that average only 9 students.
  The Teacher Feature - SMS teachers really want to help you succeed. Four days a week, they’re in their classrooms at the end of the day to answer questions, review concepts and get you started on assignments. Most of them live on campus, so they're almost always around, even on the weekends.
 Rockin' Activities – There’s always something to do after school and on the weekends. During the week, choose from team sports (we have 9), fun fitness activities, art, music or service. Weekend options include dances at other schools, plays and concerts, shopping trips, outdoor adventures, and more.
 College Connections - Show this to your parents: (link to college list – need to update; Admission staff have new one) SMS has an outstanding post-secondary placement record. We start working with you junior year to help identify the colleges where you'll be most likely to do well and be happy.
  Awesome Advice - Someone's always willing to listen at St. Margaret's—your advisor. This adult is an amazing blend of role model, cheerleader, shoulder to cry on, and voice of reason. Small advisor groups, typically 5 students or fewer, mean that he or she really gets to know you.
 Diversity Divas - All kinds of girls find a place at St. Margaret's. Your SMS experience is enriched by living and learning with people of different races, religions, and nationalities, and from a wide variety of cultures and social classes.
