 Amy Bevans '97.
IN A CLASS OF HER OWN
Like most teenaged girls, Amy Bevans '97 (right) loved fashion. At age 23, she's already parlayed that interest into a successful business, Richmond's A.R. Bevans.
"I wanted to provide an opportunity for mothers and daughters to shop together," Ms. Bevans said. "Unlike corporate retailers, specialty stores give women the opportunity to create their own unique look with distinctive clothing and accessories."
Her Patterson Avenue store carries a lively mix of the traditional and trendy. Clothes, bags, and other accessories range from business and dressy casual to casual and represent such bridge and designer lines as Banu, Bisou Bisou, Custo Barcelona, MAG, Trina Turc, and Santi.

 Fay Gibian Lohr '62.
IN A CLASS OF HER OWN
As executive director of the Central Virginia Foodbank, Fay Gibian Lohr '62 works with more than 584 community agencies in 6 cities and 31 counties to get food to those who need it the most: children, the elderly, and the working poor, to name just a few.
Under her leadership, the Foodbank moved to an expanded warehouse facility in 2001. Its industrial-sized cooler is making another goal possible: providing more fresh produce to member agencies' clients.
"Eating healthy costs money," Ms. Lohr said. "Often, it's just not possible for single working moms or older people on fixed incomes."
