ST. MARGARET'S SCHOOL IN THE COMMUNITY

St. Margaret's encourages its students to become part of the larger community. The school itself is invested in the area, employing more than 70 full- and part-time staff. In fact, we're one of the area's larger employers. So whether it's participating in a community service project or eating at a local restaurant, girls learn to appreciate the people, history and culture of Tappahannock, Virginia.

Helpers in the community
The nearly 2,000 hours of service that SMS students provide annually to local organizations is St. Margaret's gift to the community. It's also the school's gift to its students. Every student must complete at least 12 hours of community service each year. Many students, however, go far beyond the requirement. Read more about SMS community service projects.

A cultural center
In the last year, SMS offered more than 15 professionally produced cultural events to the public, including plays, concerts, art shows and lectures. Read more about the SMS program of events.
