Ms. Gates arrived at St. Margaret's in 2007 after working in the Advancement Office at Virginia Commonwealth University where she specialized in corporate and foundation relations.  Part of her duties at VCU included her role as resident director in one of the university's residence hall.

As Director of Development Services and Annual Giving, she manages the office schedule for database projects, mailings, and other support services, and works closely with Alumnae, Parents, and current students, raising funds for the school.   She lives on campus.
