On November 19, 2007 St. Margaret's alumna Fay Gibian Lohr '62 welcomed President George W. Bush to the Central Virginia Food Bank (CVFB) in Richmond, Virginia. Fay, who serves as the CEO of the Food Bank, had the opportunity to spend 30 minutes, one on one, with President Bush to discuss the importance of the Farm Bill. In speaking with Anne Hillegass, Director of Development at St. Margaret's, Fay stated that the President's visit was very exciting and came to her as quite a surprise.
Fay, who has 30 years of management experience in the not for profit industry, is a master collaborator within the Richmond community. During her tenure at CVFB Fay has been instrumental in working with CVFB and Meals on Wheels to build a community kitchen. Fay also worked with the Red Cross of Greater Richmond to finalize the "READI to Feed" program which provides food to disaster victims. Under Fay's guidance, 500 agencies from 31 counties and 5 cities, form a network to prevent hunger in central Virginia.
You might say that Fay is not only giving back to the Richmond community but she is also giving back to Essex County, home to St. Margaret's School In 2006 the Central Virginia Food Bank distributed over 108,000 pounds of food to the needy in Essex county.
Fay is a shining example of the St. Margaret's motto "As We Grow In Age May We Grow In Grace". Please join all of us at St. Margaret's in congratulating Fay on her great success.
