A Monthly News Update From the St. Margaret's Campus
Vol. 4, No. 09 Tappahannock, Virginia, April 2002
CAPTAIN'S CORNER
Dear St. Margaret's friends and families,
April marks the beginning of our season of traditions and transitions. The annual all-school Easter egg hunt, senior speeches and independent study presentations, Spring Family Weekend and May Ball, the senior class dinner and charms chapel, junior college day, academic and sports banquets; each event gives us an opportunity to reflect on our students' growth in skills and confidence and the richness of this community life. College acceptances announce the directions our seniors will take, while the Lantern Ceremony and installation of officers mark the formal transfer of leadership from seniors to their successors.
This month, I have continued my travels to current parents and to parents and grandparents of alumnae outlining our campus master plan and seeking support for our summer renovation projects. An unanticipated bonus of these conversations has been the genuine appreciation for our school, its teachers and programs, expressed by all those I've met.
Here are just a few examples:No, we have not yet raised the $1 million we will need to fully implement the first phase of our master plan this summer, but we are well on the way and acknowledge with gratitude the generous gifts and pledges we have received so far. As we reach out to more of you over the next few months, I hope you will reflect on your own experience with our school and help us continue to enrich this environment for our current and future students."We are so grateful that we have finally found a place where our daughter's potential can be realized."
"Our daughter's successful transition to college is a direct result of her year at St. Margaret's School. I can't tell you how much that means to us!"
"As we prepare for our daughter's wedding, we think about the girls who were her friends before her St. Margaret's School years, and are grateful that she had the opportunity to spend her high school years in such a positive environment. The life of committed service she is leading now started in Tappahannock."
We remain grateful for your commitment to our mission of educating young women for life.
Sincerely,
Margaret R. Broad,
Head of School
