A St. Margaret’s Education is a Valuable Investment

During these tough economic times, families are making hard decisions about where to put their money. At St. Margaret’s, education is more than just a monthly payment, it’s an investment that will yield lifetime returns.

“When you invest in a St. Margaret’s education, you are investing in our promise to educate young women for life,” Head of School Margaret Broad said. In addition to an excellent academic program, here is what you can expect from an investment in St. Margaret’s:

Your daughter will be a leader. Every student has the chance to become a leader at St. Margaret’s. “We have the opportunity to start our own clubs, be president of the school, and even determine the future of our peers as a member of the honor council,” Abby Odell ’11 said. In addition to formal leadership roles, students create and lead activities and assist the admission and alumnae offices.

Your daughter will be prepared for college. At St. Margaret’s, your daughter will receive one-on-one college counseling during her junior and senior years. We’ll help her move through the selection process to the application process by providing valuable resources, including opportunities to visit college campuses. Research shows that independent school students graduate from college at higher rates than those at public schools. Our graduates receive guidance to find the college that fits their needs. A fewl seniors have already received scholarships and early college acceptances for next year.

Your daughter will learn important life skills. Through daily life, sports, afternoon activities and the co-curriculum program, which is recognized as a model for other boarding schools, students learn important life lessons.

“Even during sports practice, we learn life lessons such as working as a team and having a positive attitude,” Suji An ’11 said. Students live in a global community where they’ll learn about the world from their peers. “Meeting people from various backgrounds has been enriching,” Antinnea Skipwith ’09 said. “The bonds that I have created are priceless, and I have grown so much by being in this supportive environment.”

Minimester offers students an educational experience
Minimester offers students an educational experience
outside the classroom. Last year, students learned
to sail and studied tropical marine life in the Bahamas.

Your daughter will learn outside the classroom. The minimester program allows students to learn with more hands-on experience. “My freshman year, going to Greece and Italy brought my history books to life,” Corbin Brooks ’09 said. “Whether it’s traveling overseas or participating in a service trip, minimester has allowed me to experience the world outside of the classroom.” We offer educational and service experiences abroad, domestically and on campus. Many seniors opt to work on an Independent Study Project in the career field of their choice.

Your daughter will take responsibility for herself. Living in a community, students learn the communication skills, respect and concern for others that they will need to forge successful relationships. “Living here has helped me become more responsible and independent,” Claire Hamilton ’11 said. As an Episcopal school, we offer students a spiritual framework for their intellectual growth. Our Honor Code teaches girls the importance of taking responsibility for their own actions and for those that affect the school community. In a single-sex environment, students will develop the self-confidence that will give them an advantage in life.
