St. Margaret's to Host K.I.D.S. Camp 2000
St. Margaret's School will hold its Kick Into Discover Summer (KIDS) camp for an eighth year for children ages 6 to 12 beginning June 26 in Tappahannock.
KIDS CAMP - Mrs. Elizabeth Lewis (wearing sunvisor), of Tappahannock, with her swimming class in the summer of 1996.
Camp director Sue Saunders has a myriad of activities scheduled including old favorites like art kaleidoscope, math games, tennis, golf, canoeing, and soccer. Three new activities have also been added: "Computer Basics," an introduction to keyboarding, word processing, graphics, and the internet; "Volleyball," where students will learn to serve, bump, set, and spike; "Dance," a course taught by a Fawn School of Dance (Callao) instructor who will teach aspiring dancers ballet, tap, and jazz.
St. Margaret's gymnasium will open at 8:45am during both camp sessions, from June 26 to July 7 and July 10-21. Camp hours are 9:00am to 12:15pm daily. The cost is $175 per two-week session. Bus service is available with designated stops along Rt. 17 south and Rt. 360 east and west; an additional fee is required. "KIDS camp is a lot of fun…there are so many activities to choose from and the counselors and staff are great working with children," commented Robin Steck, of Saluda, whose daughter, Emma (sixth camper from left in photo), attended KIDS Camp in 1996. "My daughter had a wonderful time."
