FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KIDS Camp Session I a Smash Hit;
Space Still Available for Session II
Not even the drizzling, rainy weather last week could dampen spirits at KIDS Camp. Judging by the faces of the 70 young campers and staff members packed inside St. Margaret's gym on Thursday (June 29) morning for the mandatory camp check in, one would never have guessed that there was an ongoing downpour outside that threatened to cancel the day's swimming activities.
KIDS Camp assembles in gym Friday morning before the fun starts.
"Kick Into Discover Summer" (KIDS) Camp is a two-week, summer day camp for area young people, ages 6-12. KIDS 2000 represents the camp's eighth year. The popular summer event is organized and directed by St. Margaret's Athletic Director, Sue Saunders. All activities are conducted on the St. Margaret's School campus. Qualified coaches and aides provide instruction to attendees in a variety of sports and related activities, including field hockey, golf, computer basics, and jazz dance. Camp highlights include a surprise "ice cream day". This event is popular with campers who craft their own ice cream sundaes during the morning break. Additionally, on the second Monday (of each session) campers receive official KIDS Camp tee-shirts and parents are invited to attend camp with their children on the last Friday.
Limited space is available for Session II, which runs from Monday, July 10 through Friday, July 21. Campers meet at the St. Margaret's gym Monday-Friday at 9am; camp concludes each afternoon at 12:15pm. For those campers who require transportation, buses will follow rotes with designated stops along Rt. 17 South and Rt. 360 East and West.
