Community Invited to SMS Run, Crafts Fair This Weekend

Tappahannock, VA (October 5, 2000) - The Second Annual Rappahannock River Run and Crafts Festival may be sponsored by the St. Margaret's School Alumnae Association, but it benefits the entire community. Last year's race drew a field of 115 runners and walkers, and hundreds of crafts shoppers. The events this coming Friday, October 6, and Saturday, October 7, promise to bring even more visitors to Tappahannock.

"Runners from Fredericksburg, Richmond and Washington DC have downloaded registration forms from our web site and mailed them to us," said Race Co-Director Jenni Booker. "This is indicative of the turnout we expect on Saturday."

In addition, a record-setting 29 area businesses are helping to sponsor the 5-kilometer (3.1 mile) walk/run. Tappahannock restaurant owner Danny Sze decided to support the run for reasons that are shared by many other local merchants.

Jenni Booker and Danny Sze Danny Sze (r.), owner of The Tea House gourmet Chinese seafood restaurant, is one of 29 local businesspeople supporting Saturday's Rappahannock River Run. A crafts fair also will take place this Friday and Saturday on the St. Margaret's School campus. For more information, contact SMS at (804) 443-3357.

"I want The Tea House to be profitable, and I want the community to profit by the way I do business," said Sze, who likes to see customers wearing run T-shirts with the Tea House logo on the back. "For me, that's what it is all about - giving back to the community."

Adding to the buzz around this year's River Run and Crafts Festival, more than 75 St. Margaret's parents and families will be arriving in town on Friday for Fall Family Weekend. Many will stay in local hotels and patronize area businesses while they are here visiting their daughters.
