Community Invited to SMS Run, Crafts Fair This Weekend

Tappahannock (October 1, 2001) - St. Margaret's School opens its campus to the community this weekend for two days of fall fun. The Third Annual Rappahannock River Run and Crafts Festival on Friday, October 5, and Saturday, October 6, promises to be bigger and better than ever.

"We expect even more runners and crafts vendors this year," said event co-chair Bette Albert. "It's a great outing for the whole family."

There's another benefit to the local community, too. Approximately 150 St. Margaret's parents will be arriving in town on Friday for Fall Family Weekend. More than 25 area businesses are helping to sponsor the 5-kilometer (3.1 mile) walk/run, said Assistant Director for Alumnae Relations Liz Musselman. They include: Atkins Petroleum and Propane, Bank of Essex, Chesapeake Academy, Crowther Heating and Air Conditioning, First Union Securities, Panoply Computers, Riverside Tappahannock Hospital, The Taylor Foundation, Roma Ristorante Italiano, Sheetz Incorporated, Southside Bank, Store-Tel Storage, Tappahannock Pharmacy, Tea House Gourmet Chinese Restaurant, WRAR, W. Ellery Kellum Inc. Seafood, Wal-Mart and Woodland Academy.

The weekend's schedule of events, all of which will be held on St. Margaret's Water Lane campus, is as follows: Crafts Festival, featuring smocked children's clothing, jewelry, oil paintings, hand-carved decoys, ceramics, country baskets and more - Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on the lawn in front of Brockenbrough House.
