SMS Students Help Nepalese Girls

Brittany Nicole Walker Tappahannock (May 14, 2002) - Eighth-graders at St. Margaret's School recently raised more than $200 to help at-risk girls in Nepal. The proceeds of the students' car wash will benefit the Bahini Fund www.bahinifund.org which works to educate young women who might otherwise be sold by their families into prostitution or indentured servitude. Car wash participants included Erin Martin of Callao, Megan Burton of Montross, Brooke Shafer and Kate Turnage of Hague. Not pictured are student participants Ayla Cobb, Sojin Lee, Jennie Lynne Leonard, Drenika Mosby, Sarah Reilly of Walkerton, Sarah Rice Stender and Sloan Tate, and faculty sponsors ViAnn Farmer of Miller's Tavern, Susan Stephenson of Tappahannock and Mary Williams of Gloucester.
