New 2003-2004 Leaders Installed at St. Margaret's

Tappahannock (May 23, 2003) - Girls become leaders at St. Margaret's School, where there are more than 50 opportunities to captain teams, lead class activities, head organizations and help administer residential life. Students tapped for 2003-2004 positions in school government, the peer leader program and the dormitories were installed in a candlelight ceremony on May 21.

Faculty and students selected eight area girls for leadership positions: Katie Carpenter of Irvington, head day prefect (leader of the school's day students); Sarah Copeland of Tappahannock, peer leader; Blair Fisher of Lottsburg, peer leader; Maggie Ransone of Irvington, peer leader; Allison Smith of Warsaw, senior class president; Hope Scott of West Point, sophomore class president; Palmer Ware of Dunnsville, Honor Council member; and Sarah Weakley of Montross, senior warden (leader of the students who serve at chapel).

Boarding students chosen for leadership positions include Lulu Fiscella of Newport News, junior class president; Yoo-Ri Jung of Seoul, Korea, junior warden; Jeesun Lee of Seoul, Korea, Honor Council member; Julia Peeler of Richmond, peer leader; Anna Reed of Fredericksburg, school president; Cariad Shepherd of St. Barthelemy, French West Indies, Honor Council head; and Jessica White of Bartlett, TN, Honor Council member.

In addition, new dormitory prefects were named. These students will work with residential life staff to ensure a safe and healthy community: Vera Attaway of Raleigh, NC; Jessica Bailey of Hanna Point, CA; Liz Brown of Berryville; Jennifer Clark of West River, MD; Amy Connors of Alexandria; Chelsea McDowell of Lexington, KY; Lee Osborne of Charleston, WV; Robin Ridderhof of Fredericksburg; Margot Seglem of Colorado Springs, CO; Meredith Walsh of Bluemont, plus Shepherd and White.
