The double victory stretched the Scotty winning streak to 5 games and lifted the team’s record to 5-4.
The Scotties grounded the Falcons in a 41-33 victory at home on Tuesday, February 1. Junior Kara Casey of Vienna posted a season-high 23 points and 8 rebounds. Junior Allison Ryan of Tappahannock pulled down 8 rebounds. The momentum continued the next day, when St. Margaret’s met St. Gertrude’s in Richmond. Although they lost to them 29-20 in the first game of the season, the Scotties stopped the Gators 41-37 in the rematch. Coach Sue Ball described the win as a personal victory and evidence of team improvement since early December. “The girls just play better together now, and they know where to find each other on the court,” she said. Each starter contributed to the final score. Junior Thera Conrad of Seattle added 9 points, Ryan added 6, and seniors Becky Clark of Lively and Sarah McAllister of Houston each contributed 2. Casey led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds. St. Margaret’s will wrap up the season with games at Collegiate on February 9 and against Christchurch at home on February 11. Seniors will be honored at the Christchurch game. |
