Tappahannock (June 8, 2005) - Six girls from the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula are among the 29 members of the St. Margaret’s School Class of 2005 who were graduated on Sunday, June 5.

Fully 100% of this year’s class plans to go directly to college. The graduates will be attending some of Virginia’s top institutions, including the University of Virginia and the College of William and Mary, along with more than 25 other schools in 12 additional states that include California, Texas and Florida.

Local graduates are: Ann Norris Arnest (University of Virginia), daughter of Ms. Alice Moore of Kinsale; Catherine Ann Chilton (Virginia Tech), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Chilton of Lancaster; Rebecca Todd Clark (Randolph-Macon College), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Clark of Lively; Elizabeth Tankard Headley (Randolph-Macon Woman’s College), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.T. Headley of Kinsale; Elizabeth Neill Katona (College of William and Mary), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scot Katona of Dunnsville; and Catharine Palmer Ware (University of Virginia), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tyler Ware of Dunnsville.

Dr. Carlotta G. Miles, a nationally known child advocate and expert on adolescent development, gave the commencement address. Sarah Belle Eason Parrott, an SMS alumna who chairs the school’s Board of Governors, joined Head of School Margaret R. Broad in conferring the diplomas.
