FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tappahannock (October 3, 2005) -

Local residents can enjoy a beautiful day by the water—and get a head start on holiday shopping—at the Rappahannock River Crafts Festival on Friday, October 14. The seventh annual event takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the lawn of St. Margaret’s School.

Regional artisans will display a wide range of hand-crafted items, including smocked children’s clothing; silver jewelry; watches; embroidered gifts; colorful earthenware; hand-knit scarves, hats and ponchos; travel, duffle, cosmetic and garment bags; custom pet bowls; notecards; luggage tags and checkbook covers; watercolors; handbags made with upholstery fabric and trim; wooden signs; vintage button belts; gourmet dessert sauces and cookie mixes; and handmade soaps.

In addition, the St. Margaret’s School library will sell used books to benefit the library materials fund.

The festival is sponsored by the St. Margaret’s School Alumnae Association, with proceeds supporting campus beautification and student life programs. In case of rain, the event will be held in Ball Memorial Gymnasium on Water Lane.

For more information, contact Alumnae Director Carol Smith at (804) 443-3357.
