FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tappahannock (December 2, 2005) -
Area residents are invited to join the St. Margaret’s School community for an evening of seasonal stories by professional storyteller Les Schaffer on Thursday, December 8 at 6:30 p.m. The presentation, which will include tales about Christmas, Hanukkah and the Winter Solstice, will take place in Ball Memorial Gymnasium on Water Lane.
Schaffer is one of the founding members of “The Tell Tale Hearts” storytelling theater company in Richmond. Before finding his voice as a teller, he enjoyed a variety of careers, most recently working as a licensed professional counselor. He asserts that each of his jobs prepared him for storytelling.
“Being a photographer helped me to see,” he said. Being in advertising and sales taught me how to get people’s attention. Being a therapist and a domestic violence counselor was all about listening to stories, telling stories, and helping people change their story.”
The SMS Speakers Series is a series of free, public presentations sponsored by St. Margaret’s School. Future programs include Mike Roberts of Return to Nature, Inc. on Wednesday, February 15 and mystery novelist Ted Blain of Woodberry Forest School on an April date to be announced
For more information, contact program coordinator Tobey Taliaferro at (804) 443-3357.
