Four local graduates of the St. Margaret’s School Class of 2007 have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program (AP) exams.
Ligon Brooks, daughter of Jeff and Sara Brooks of Millers Tavern, Michelle Burch, daughter of Michael Burch and Sherilynn Hummel of Burgess, Laura Gorham, daughter of Eugene and Robin Gorham of Tappahannock, and Chelsea Jacobs, daughter of Robert and Dawn Jacobs of Dunnsville were named AP Scholars for achieving grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.
After graduating from St. Margaret’s, the four students went on to pursue rigorous studies at some of the country’s most competitive colleges. Brooks is now a first-year student at the College of William and Mary, Burch at the University of Virginia, Gorham at the University of South Carolina, and Jacobs at Virginia Tech.
St. Margaret’s offers AP courses in all core subject areas, providing strong students with the opportunity to broaden their intellectual horizons, demonstrate their commitment to academic excellence, and gain an edge in college preparation by undertaking rigorous high school work. Students who do well on AP exams can also earn credit or advanced standing at most American colleges and universities.
