Tappahannock (September 2, 2008)

Day students at St. Margaret’s school are learning more than the basics as they return for the 2008-2009 school year.

The 39 students are part of a global community committed to the growth of young women in every area of their lives. In addition to the academic program, the school also focuses on physical well being, social responsibility and spiritual maturity. Their boarding classmates come from 17 states and 10 countries.

“St. Margaret’s educates young women for life,” Head of School Margaret Broad said. “We are teaching life skills that will guide students as they head to college and into the world. Our local students are able to make friends from all over the country and the world.”

St. Margaret’s School officially welcomed local day students and their families to the 2008-2009 school year during a Day Family Dinner on Aug. 28.

In addition to Essex County, the school enrolls local students from Richmond, Hanover, Lancaster, Northumberland, Westmoreland, Caroline, King and Queen and King William counties. Nine day students are new to the school this year.
