St. Margaret’s winter athletes were recently honored at an awards breakfast for their hard work and dedication throughout the season.
Olivia Wray ’12 of New Carrollton, Md., received the player’s player award from JV Basketball Coach Larry Foulk. Tiffany Sutton ’13 of Milford received the coach’s award. In varsity basketball, Coach Laura Carney recognized Imani Yasin ’10 of Baltimore, Md., as the most valuable player and highest scorer. She also earned a spot on the League of Independent Schools division II basketball team. Heather Chastain ’11 of Dunnsville was the team’s most improved player. The coach’s award went to Lexi Hayden ’13 of Kilmarnock for her persistence on defense.
Indoor Track Coach Elizabeth Tilbury named Caroline Casey ’09 of Richmond most valuable runner and recognized her with a senior award for her team dedication over the past three years. Quinn Kolbe ’09 of Orefield, Pa., received the coach’s award and Annie Badenock ’10 of Kilmarnock was the most improved runner.
Varsity Swim Coach Kay Brooks Carlton named Sarah Keating ’09 of Frederick, Md., most valuable player and Kendra Gansner ’13 of Malawi, Africa, as most improved player. Lindsay Beasley ’09 of Virginia Beach and Flo Snyder ’09 of Rockhill, S.C., received senior awards.
The banquet marked the end of the winter athletic season. The softball, soccer, lacrosse, golf and crew teams will soon begin spring sports practice. Visit www.sms.org to view the full spring sports calendar.
