Virginia Quarter Horse Association Honors Jamie Shelor With Youth Sportsmanship Award
On February 6, sixteen year old Jamie Shelor was awarded the Bobbie Chafin Perpetual Sportsmanship Award at the 1998 Virginia Quarter Horse Association (VQHA) awards banquet at The Fort Magruder Inn in Williamsburg, VA.
Jamie, a junior at St. Margaret's School, is the daughter of Gary and Marlene Shelor, of St. Stephens Church, VA.
The Bobbie Chafin Perpetual Sportsmanship award, which began in 1972, is presented annually to a deserving youth who has demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship. Jamie, a VQHA member since 1994, began riding horses at the age of seven. She has been on the VQHA Youth Team, representing Virginia at the Youth World Show in Fort Worth, Texas and at the Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio.
