At reunion, we thanked SMS Alumnae Association President 2001-2003 Trudi Barton Allcott ’77 for her leadership and many years of volunteer service to St. Margaret’s. During Trudi’s tenure, the Association adopted its first-ever mission statement and renewed its efforts to involve more alumnae in the life of the school today.
You then elected your new 2003-2005 officers:
President Caroline Silek Noble ’92 rose to the Association’s top job after terms as president-elect and secretary. Caroline has a long-standing interest in alumnae affairs; she worked in the SMS development and alumnae offices as a college intern! An at-home mom and volunteer, she lives in Williamsburg with her husband, Michael; son, Kannon; and daughter, Anne Heaton.
President-Elect Courtenay Tayloe Altaffer ’66 is a 2002 recipient of the Hannah Mallory Perkins Distinguished Service Award and previously served as the Association’s vice-president. Her other SMS roles include co-chair of the Thistle House committee, class agent, and prior terms as secretary and vice-president. Courtenay is the mother of two former students, Anne ’92 and Elizabeth ’96. She lives in Warsaw.

Vice-President Nancy Swecker Swan ’85 previously served as the Association’s secretary, as an at-large member of the Alumnae Council, and as a class agent. An entrepreneur, she lives in Charlotte with her three young daughters.
Secretary Bette Jones Albert ’68 is a 2003 recipient of the Hannah Mallory Perkins Distinguished Service Award and co-chair of the Association’s annual Rappahannock River Run and Crafts Festival. An Aylett resident, Bette is vice-president of the Virginia Bankers’ Association Benefits Corporation. She is the daughter of Caroline Gwathmey Jones ’35.
New to the Alumnae Council are Class Agents Chair Rebecca Brown ’98, Young Alumnae Chairs Ann Paige Stephenson ’96 and Elizabeth Taliaferro ’95, River Run committee member Pie Terry ’00, Awards and Recognitions Chair Rebecca Russell Creasey ’80, and Members-at-Large Susie Brown Price ’61 and Jean vonSchrader Bryan ’78.
